Iām Laura Lewis, an American artist living in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. I make traditional pastel and charcoal portraits with expressive color, soft edges, and a seaside flair.
My work is rooted in drawing from life, careful observation, and the joy of making something by hand in a world full of throwaway images.
I believe a hand-drawn portrait is one of the few things that becomes more meaningful with time. Schedule time with me to bring home your favorite souvenir.
While pastel portraiture is my primary focus, I also accept commissions
in other traditional media.

Inside the Studio Soft pastel, charcoal, beautiful paper, oil paint, and anything with texture. Portraits, textiles, paper beetles, book arts, collage, and small handmade experiments. Coffee, sea air, good conversation, and the tiny thrill of a perfect color match. How I Got Here Studied traditional craft, material process, and making things by hand. Began building a more public studio practice and showing finished work. Continued exhibiting and developing work rooted in color, texture, and craft. Made a new home by the sea and started imagining an art practice shaped by Las Canteras.
